Memory of 2013 – the champagne soiré

As we now start to prepare for the Blackheath Choir Festival in August, Paul Cosgrave has kindly sent through to us some pictures from the soiré last year, which replaced the choir festival in 2013.

Paul presents drive time on Radio Blue Mountains 89.1 from 4pm – 6pm.  He is a professional photographer and an active member of the Blue Mountains community having been a Past President of Biznet, the Blue Mountains Regional Chamber of Commerce.

At the time of the soiré Paul said of the choir:

The Heathens were the stand-out choir on the day for me, for a number of reasons. There was an obvious cohesiveness, synergy and togetherness in the singers but especially the sense of joy that emanated from them. There seemed to be no holding back – musically disciplined, I thought, but without compromising freedom of expression.

And I enjoyed the selection of songs, interesting and adventurous, and a good balance. I especially enjoyed Sisters and the arrangement of the Paul Simon song, Under African Skies. In fact, I enjoyed all the arrangements, they managed to make the whole seem greater than the sum of the parts.
